Party Planning Tips (Weddings, Birthdays, Holidays, etc.)
Following these steps will help you determine a close estimate for what is needed for your guests.
| 1 |
Consider the age range, gender, and anything else you may know about your guests that may tell you what they like to drink. For example, some groups prefer more beer, some may want fancy martinis, some drink mostly white wine. |
| 2 |
What time of year is your event? During warmer weather, beer, white wine and “summer cocktails” (e.g. margaritas) are more popular. During colder months, people tend to drink more red wine, and darker liquor (e.g. bourbon, scotch). |
| 3 |
The location may either discourage or even limit your choices. If it is inside you may not want to serve red wine, in order to protect your carpets and furniture. If you are renting a facility, they may have restrictions for what may be served, such as no kegs, or red wine. |
| 4 |
How long will your function last , and on what day of the week is it? On the average, most people will drink 1 per hour, and consume more on weekends than during the week. |
| 5 |
Are you going to have bartender(s)? They are sometimes particular about the size of bottle (liquor & wine) they want to pour. |
| 6 |
Keep the choices down to the basics. Trying to offer everything for everybody can waste products, and cost you more. For example, offering some more esoteric liquors may allow one or two patrons a drink, but then you’ll have most of the bottle left, and what will you do with it? The vast majority of people attending parties do not expect a complete selection. They will be happy with whatever there is to choose from – they are there for the event. Keep it simple. |
| 7 |
Are you planning a theme? Just margaritas and beer? Martini bar? Keg for outside function? |
| 8 |
Now you can begin to figure out what you need. How many people are drinking which product ______ , multiplied by how many hours _______ will give you an idea of how many drinks you may expect to serve of that drink. Depending upon the size of the containers (of wine/liquor, or if you are using cans, bottles, or kegs of beer), will let you know the quantity you’ll need. |
| 9 |
We will allow you to return unused products for credit, staying within the state guidelines. Each product must be unopened, undamaged, and in it’s original container packaged for sale. For example, beer must be in the original unopened, undamaged 6-pk, 12-pk, or other cartons. Bottles of wine and liquor must be unopened and undamaged. |
| 10 |
To make it easier for you, and for a small charge, we will gladly schedule a delivery, and even a pick up of the unused items for return. Otherwise, we will have your order ready for you to pick up when desired, and the appropriate products chilled. |
